A 42-year-old man was charged at the Ipoh Sessions Court today with sexually assaulting his two daughters in April last year.
The attendant at the government health clinic in Manjung pleaded not guilty when both charges were read to him before Judge Mohd Fauzi Mohd Nasir.
The man was accused of committing the offence on his six-year-old daughter at a house in Kampung Tersusun Batu 7, Lekir, Setiawan at 2.30pm on April 10 last year.
He then again allegedly committed the same offence by caressing his nine-year-old daughter’s private parts, between 8pm and midnight at the same place in April last year.
The offences under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 carries a maximum 20 years’ imprisonment and whipping upon conviction.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohd Waffy Ismail prosecuted while and the accused was represented by a lawyer, Mohd Asri Othman.
Earlier, Mohd Waffy offered RM10,000 bail for both offences to the accused.
However, Mohd Asri requested for bail to be set at RM5,000, saying his client only earns RM1,800 monthly.
“My client is going through a divorce. His daughters are currently staying with their mother,” he said.
The court then fixed bail at RM6,000 for both offences with one surety.
Mohd Fauzi said the accused must report himself at the nearest police station once a month until the trial was over. He is prohibited from contacting his daughters.
The court set Feb 25 for mention.
