A medical assistant at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital died after falling off from the third floor of the premises.
Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm A Asmadi Abdul Aziz said the 39-year-old, from Medan Klebang Restu, Chemor, near here, is believed to have committed suicide on Wednesday (Jan 20), at about 6.45pm.
Asmadi said the deceased’s body, clad in the hospital’s blue working attire, was found near the motorcycle parking area by a security guard.
The victim died on the spot from serious head injuries.
“We found a note left behind by the deceased.
“He could not handle his own health issue and was unable to think normally,” Asmadi said in a statement.
“We also found his bag, which contained his identity, medical and counselling cards.
“His colleague also said that he was supposed to be working a 24-hour shift while waiting for his treatment result,” he added.
Asmadi said a post-mortem will be conducted on Thursday (Jan 21).
“We were also told that the deceased did not have Covid-19.
“The matter has been classified as sudden death,” he added.
It was reported that several friends of the victim said that the victim looked sad for the past few days, though he did not speak of his troubles with anyone.
It is understood that the victim had been working at the hospital for over a year and had planned to get married in May.
It is learnt that the victim, who was from Chemor, was suffering from a health condition and decided not to burden his family with it.
In the note that the victim left behind, he extended an apology to his family and friends.
