MIC will be contesting in nine parliamentary and 18 state seats in the coming election, including the “hot” Cameron Highlands seat.
The Cameron Highlands seat was targeted by MyPPP president Tan Sri M Kayveas who said that the party would reconsider their position in Barisan Nasional depending on seat allocations.
MIC Youth chief Datuk C Sivarraajh (pix below) will be contesting the seat, which is likely to see an intense battle with Pakatan Harapan and Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM).

Party treasurer S Vell Paari (pix below), who was originally touted for the Sungai Siput seat, was not chosen as a candidate at all.

Instead, Sungai Siput will be re-contested by deputy chairman Datuk Seri K Devamany.
In 2013, Devamany lost to Parti Sosialis Malaysia’s Dr Michael Jeyakumar, who contested under a PKR ticket, by only 2,793 votes.
Party sources said that Vell Paari has reached a compromise agreement with Devamany and will be appointed a senator after the election.
Meanwhile, party president Datuk Seri Dr S Subramaniam will defend his Segamat seat in Johor.
Party central working committee (CWC) member Datuk Seri M Saravanan will be defending his Tapah seat while fellow CWC member Datuk P Kamalanathan will defend Hulu Selangor.
