After failing to register before entering a chicken rice restaurant, Najib says will pay the fine for not following SOP.
Najib Razak said he will pay the fine for not checking in with the MySejahtera app before entering a chicken rice restaurant.
A video clip of the former prime minister entering the restaurant without scanning the QR code with phone or writing his details in a book has been widely circulated on social media, eliciting criticism for failing to follow rules meant to curb Covid-19 transmission.
Najib said it was not his intention not to check-in, and he was prepared to face the music.
“Never mind. I told the authorities to issue me a fine for my mistake and I will pay it voluntarily. For me, there is no such thing as double standards,” he said in a Facebook post today.
The Pekan MP said he will pay the fine in a week to avoid the early-bird discount of RM750.
He said the compound for not using the MySejathera app while entering any premises had been pegged by the government at RM1,500 a few days ago.
He said the word double-standard did not exist in his vocabulary.
