Datuk Seri Najib Razak was admitted to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) yesterday.
His lawyer Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah said this when met after the case management of Najib’s corruption hearing involving billions from 1Malaysia Development (1MDB) funds today.
Shafee told the court that his client’s blood pressure was fluctuating.
“He needs to go through several health tests in the next few days.
“I was unable to obtain instructions from Najib as I was not allowed to visit him in HKL.
“Thus, I applied for today’s proceedings to be vacated,” he said.
Shafee said his client will be transferred to the National Heart Institute (IJN) today.
Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Mohamad Mustaffa P Kunyalam did not object to an adjournment.
Judge Datuk Collin Lawrence Sequerah allowed the adjournment of the proceedings.
Hearing will resume on Wednesday.
Najib is currently serving his 12-year jail sentence for stealing RM42 million from SRC International Sdn Bhd, a former 1MDB subsidiary.

Today marks his 22nd day after the Federal Court upheld his conviction and sentence and sent him to jail on August 23.
Last night, Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said he has instructed the Health Ministry to give Najib the best treatment for his health.
He said on Twitter that he had been informed of Najib’s condition.
“I have ordered the Health Ministry to accord him the best treatment he needs.
“I pray for his speedy recovery,” he tweeted.
