Incumbent Mohamad Sabu has cleared the air over his purported quarrels with Barisan Nasional (BN) supporters as he was leaving the Kota Raja nomination centre yesterday morning.
“When I left the nomination centre, a group of BN supporters heckled me and I walked straight past them to where PH supporters were gathered.
“On my way back in again after the authorities called me back to the centre, they heckled me once again.
“That’s when I shouted back to them, ‘Najib is in jail! Rosmah will go to jail!’,” the Amanah president said.
He also dismissed the claim that he insulted anyone in the crowd, especially women.
“I was saying it in general, it’s slander by them (BN) saying I insulted women,” he said.
Earlier, Mat Sabu, as he is widely known, was said to have lost his cool after being heckled by BN supporters outside the nomination centre.
He is set to defend his Kota Raja constituency in an eight-cornered fight for the upcoming 15th General Election (GE15) against Mohamad Diah Baharun (Perikatan Nasional), D Kajendran (BN), Sarah Afiqah Zainol Arif (Parti Rakyat Malaysia), Fahmi Bazlan Muda (Gerakan Tanah Air), and independent candidates P Raveentharan, S Surendhar and K Kumar. – NST
