The movements of the family of 13 with 30 pieces of luggage in tow were closely followed by the public.
Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, along with 12 of their family members have ended their widely-publicised holiday in Langkawi.
They left for Kuala Lumpur onboard a Malaysia Airlines flight at 3.30pm, Langkawi Umno chief Datuk Nawawi Ahmad confirmed.
Nawawi said he and a group of other Umno leaders, including former Langkawi member of parliament Datuk Bakar Taib and former state assemblyman Datuk Hassan Bulat had seen the group off at the airport.
Najib and his family’s holiday in Langkawi had gained widespread publicity after they were seen arriving on the resort island with 30 luggage bags.
Police had on Monday told the public not to speculate about the couple attempting to flee the country from Langkawi.
Kedah police chief Datuk Zainal Abidin Kasim was reported to have said that the authorities were aware of Najib’s movements on the island.
Najib was said to have been playing golf and spending time with his family at the posh St Regis Hotel.
