Deputy speaker Md Rashid Hasnon today said the names of MPs who are absent from the Dewan Rakyat can be published to remind them of their duty, after proceedings were halted on Thursday due to a lack of quorum.
However, he said this would not be a first resort as it would be “inappropriate” to spread these names in public.
Speaking to reporters at the Parliament lobby, he said although MPs may be on the premises, they are not always present in the Dewan Rakyat.
“We hope the chamberlain can help in counting the MPs from time to time so that if there are fewer than the required quorum, they can let us go and summon those who are not in the Dewan Rakyat to come in,” he added. – FMT
