Former Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin has been offered the Negri Sembilan mentri besar post if he contests under a Bersatu ticket in the coming state polls.
“If KJ joins Bersatu and contests in Negri, we have no issue in offering him the mentri besar post,” said state Bersatu chairman Datuk Eddin Syazlee Shith.
“To me, that’s a small matter because most importantly, we want to ensure victory and anyone deemed to be suitable and of value to the party president, he can be the mentri besar,” Eddin was quoted as saying by Sinar Harian on Friday (Feb 10).
Eddin also said Khairy could be an added value for Bersatu if he decides to join the party.
“We don’t know KJ’s real status (after being sacked from Umno),” added Eddin.
Eddin, who is also Negri Perikatan chairman, said the coalition and Bersatu state leadership have yet to have an official meeting with Khairy.
Negri Sembilan has until Sept 2 to hold state polls.
Negri Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun had previously proposed for the state assembly to be dissolved on June 1.
Khairy has said that he has received numerous offers from political parties to contest in the upcoming Selangor polls.
He also did not deny that he was offered the Selangor mentri besar post by an unnamed party if it wins the state polls.
Recently, Khairy took up the role of a radio announcer at a radio station and he will begin his new job next Wednesday (Feb 15).
