The Prime Minister’s Department announced that Idrus will serve for two years effective today.

He replaces Tommy Thomas who resigned last week.

Idrus was elevated to the Federal Court in November 2018. He is also the elder brother to Election Commission chief Azhar Harun.

Idrus, 65, who once served as solicitor-general, had also served as legal adviser in the Election Commission and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.

The Federal Court judge will helm the seat for two years starting Friday (March 6).
