Home Ministry said the 60-year-old was a capable candidate to lead the police force.
The Prime Minister yesterday named Datuk Seri Abdul Hamid Bador as the nation’s new Inspector-General of Police (IGP).

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad made the announcement at the Labour Day celebrations in Putrajaya.
In a statement today, Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the 60-year-old Abdul Hamid was a capable candidate to lead the force.
“The years of experience under his belt will guide Abdul Hamid, as he shoulders this new responsibility,” he said.
Before being named the new IGP, Abdul Hamid was the director of the force’s Special Branch.
Muhyiddin also thanked outgoing IGP Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi, who retires on May 4, for his service after being appointed IGP in 2017.
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong had since signed the appointment letter.
