Datuk Mansor Othman fainted midway through his speech during the debate of the 2020 Budget in Dewan Rakyat today.
The Nibong Tebal MP began slurring as he read from his speech and eventually collapsed at about 3.15pm.
Fellow parliamentarian Wong Chen (PKR-Subang), who was sitting next to him, grabbed onto him before he fell onto the ground.
Other MPs rushed to his aid.
Deputy Dewan Rakyat Speaker Nga Kor Ming ordered emergency assistance to be given to Mansor.
The former Penang deputy chief minister, Mansor regained consciousness and was taken to the parliament clinic in a wheelchair.
Deputy Prime Minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail was also in the clinic.
“He is okay. His blood pressure was low. But going by procedure, he is being referred to a hospital for a full check-up,” she said.
The parliament resumed its meeting at 3.30pm with Nga telling members to take care of their health.
“Let’s pray for Nibong’s speedy recovery. Take care of your health.”
