Cartoonist Zulkiflee Anwar Haque, better known as Zunar, said the travel ban imposed on him has been lifted.
Yesterday, he posted pictures of the Immigration Department website showing his travel ban status on his Twitter account. This effectively ends his travel ban that spanned about 18 months.
He described the decision as a twist of fate for former premier Najib Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor.
“At the same time, there’s a travel ban on Najib/Rosmah,” he told FMT.
In October 2016, Zunar was banned from flying to Singapore to attend a forum at the National University of Singapore.
On Dec 7, 2016, he filed his application for a judicial review at the Kuala Lumpur High Court challenging the travel ban imposed on him.
He named the Immigration Department director-general, the Home Minister and the Government as respondents in his application.
In November 2017, the Kuala Lumpur High Court dismissed his application to challenge the travel ban.
High Court judge Azizah Nawawi ruled that the court was bound by a Court of Appeal decision in a similar case involving DAP MP Tony Pua.
