Pejuang has obtained leave from the High Court to challenge the Registrar of Societies’ (RoS) refusal of its registration application.
The Kuala Lumpur High Court has allowed Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s party to proceed with its bid for a judicial review for RoS’ rejection.
This is linked the party’s second application for a judicial review against Home Minister Hamzah Zainuddin for failing to respond to Pejuang’s appeal against the RoS’ decision.
Lawyer for Pejuang, Muhammad Rafique Rashid Ali said case management was fixed for April 15.
The RoS in January rejected Pejuang’s application for registration as a political party.
Pejuang filed its first legal action in December last year after failing to get RoS’ approval, but withdrew the case in January.
It filed another judicial review in March against Home Minister Hamzah Zainuddin for failing to respond to its appeal against the RoS decision. The RoS was also named as a respondent in the filing.
Its unregistered status has prevented the party from recruiting members and preparing for the general election. – TMI
