George Town OCPD Asst Comm Soffian Santong said they received a call from MERS 999 that a woman had fallen from a condominium in Ayer Itam on Saturday (April 10).

“The forensic laboratory division (D10) from Penang police headquarters together with the K9 unit visited the scene.

“Investigation revealed that the victim, a 35-year-old insurance agent, was the suspect’s wife.

ASP Soffian said during a preliminary interrogation, the suspect admitted to pushing his wife out the window in the living room of the unit after a fight with her.

“The man suspected that his wife was having an affair.

“They had been married for about a year but had no children,” he said in a statement on Sunday (April 11).

ASP Soffian said police arrested the suspect and confiscated two mobile phones, a bottle containing crystal lumps and a plastic bag containing dried leaves believed to be drugs.

“The suspect also tested positive for marijuana. A post-mortem exam was carried out at the Penang Hospital on April 10.

“The cause of death was due to multiple injuries consistent with a fall from height,” he said.

The suspect will be remanded for six days until April 15, and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. – The Star
