Perak menteri besar’s belittling of his own allies while elevating the opposition was “wholly unacceptable”.

Perak DAP has demanded that Perak Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu apologise to the Pakatan Harapan presidential council over his widely shared remarks about DAP and cabinet ministers.

In a statement yesterday, Perak DAP secretary Wong Kah Woh said Faizal’s remarks were “embarrassing” and in violation of Harapan’s coalition spirit.

“His words, which spoke well of the opposition and disparaged his allies in Harapan, are unacceptable,” said Wong.

He said Faizal should have upheld Harapan’s solidarity at all times and led by example as the head of Perak Harapan.

“Faizal also shows he lacks integrity as a leader, especially as a PH leader and Perak MB, when he started singing the opposition’s tune. I urge the MB to apologise immediately to the presidential council over the incident,” Wong said in a statement.

Wong’s statement was far harsher than what Perak DAP head Nga Kor Ming told Malaysiakini earlier which was that he would raise Faizal’s conduct during the Harapan presidential council meeting.

Yesterday, Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin said he would ask Faizal for an explanation over the video.

Bersatu has two seats in the Perak legislative assembly. DAP has 18 seats, Amanah, six and PKR, four.

In the general election last year, Bersatu had won only one seat through Faizal but it has since gained another with the admission of a former Umno rep into the party.
