Zahid hoping Umno gets to oust Perak government before GE15.
Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu’s remarks disparaging ally DAP could prompt a break-up in the state Pakatan Harapan government and lead to its collapse, The Star reported Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as saying.
This will happen as some PH state reps may defect and join the opposition, he said, adding that Barisan Nasional was only two seats short of forming the Perak government.
“I hope we do not have to wait for the 15th general election for this to happen. Maybe with this problem, we will have the chance of using political discourse to have other political parties join us,” he was quoted as saying during a walkabout in Kukup today.
Zahid, who is also Bagan Datok MP, said the issue of Faizal complaining in the video had arisen because DAP did not give Faizal its support.
“The problem in my state is that the DAP does not support the MB (menteri besar) Perak.
“We know they have a Malay candidate for the MB post there,” he said, in an apparent reference to DAP’s Tebing Tinggi representative Abdul Aziz Bari.
Perak PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak yesterday went on record to attack Faizal’s performance as menteri besar, saying that his remarks were embarrassing, and if Faizal considered DAP as a foe in the state government, then he should not be the menteri besar.
