Perak PH Chairman Ahmad Faizal Sworn in As 12th Menteri Besar

Perak Pakatan Harapan chairman Ahmad Faizal Azumu, who is also Chenderiang assemblyman, has been appointed as the 12th Perak Menteri Besar.

The appointment of the 48-year-old Perak Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman was approved by Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah during the swearing-in ceremony at Istana Iskandariah in Kuala Kangsar today.

Also at the ceremony was former Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir and wife Datin Seri Saripah Zulkifli.

Ahmad Faizal attended Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Cator Avenue and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Anderson in Ipoh before pursuing Business Management at Edith Cowan University Edith, Perth, Australia.

He also served as the Special Officer for Kedah Menteri Besar and later Special Officer for Health Minister, as well as was on a thinking panel for Special Affairs Department (Jasa) for the Multimedia and Communication Ministry.

Running for the first time in GE14, he won the Chenderiang state seat and the Tambun parliamentary seat, both in three-cornered fights.

PH formed the Perak state government after gaining a simple majority of 31 seats following the crossing over of two assemblymen from Barisan Nasional into the ruling coalition.

The two reps who joined Pakatan were believed to be former state exco members Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohammed Radzi and Datuk Zainol Fadzi Paharuddin.
