Permatang Pauh MP Muhammad Fawwaz Mohamad Jan today apologised for his posting on Facebook condemning non-Muslims.
The PAS MP blamed the administrator of his Facebook account for making the statement and posting it on the social media platform without his knowledge.
“I apologise for the careless mistake that happened, the posting was not meant to insult anyone or any race. It was not made by me but by the admin on duty.
“That statement had nothing to do with me and was not from YB (Fawwaz),” he said in a new statement on his Facebook page today.
Fawwaz, in the now taken down statement, had said that non-Muslims were working towards bringing down Islam likening them to infidels.
He also courted controversy last week when he found an issue with the sale of alcohol at the main lobby of Sunway Carnival Mall at Seberang Jaya, Butterworth.
He asked the mall to “conceal” its beer promotion activity at its central atrium to respect Muslim sensitivities.
The beer promotion was held in conjunction with the upcoming Chinese New Year.
Tourism Minister Datuk Seri TIong King Sing called his actions out stating it would only result in the country being seen as stagnant and would affect the tourism industry who are still reeling from the effects of the pandemic. – MMO
