A 17-year-old girl has lodged a police report claiming that she was sexually abused by a 49-year-old priest who had “adopted” her since 2009.

The girl began living with the priest from Nov 15, 2009, when she was nine, after her father died and her mother had returned to China.

It was reported that after several months, the man began to sexually abuse the girl.

He allegedly molested her, forcing her to perform oral sex on him and sleep naked with him at night.

The incidents were believed to have taken place in a house in Petaling Jaya.

The man had allegedly threatened to hurt the girl if she told other people what he was doing.

Last Tuesday, the girl ran away from the house and called her mother to tell her what happened. She also lodged a police report at the district police headquarters.

District OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zani Che Din confirmed that a report was made and the case is being investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.

If convicted, the man faces a maximum jail sentence of 20 years and whipping.

The case was highlighted by Community Policing Malaysia founder Kuan Chee Heng in a video of him discussing the incident on Facebook yesterday.

“The girl has alleged that she had been molested since she was nine and she left the house only last week. The victim has been sent to the hospital for examination,” Kuan said.
