PKR is set to see a 15-cornered fight for the four vice-president’s posts in the upcoming party elections next month.

Among those confirmed to be contesting are Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari, the party’s Wanita chief Fuziah Salleh, Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Aminuddin Harun and former Perak PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak.

PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil, party organising secretary Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad and PKR central leadership member Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid are among the other prominent names vying for the post.

The remaining eight who have thrown their hat into the ring are Tanjong Malim MP Chang Lih Kang; Alor Setar MP Chan Ming Kai; former Kapar MP G Manivannan; former Perak PKR deputy chairman MA Tinagaran; former Indera Mahkota MP Azan Ismail; former vice-president Mustaffa Kamil Ayub; former PKR Youth vice-president S Thiban and Sentosa assemblyman G Gunarajah.

Fahmi, who is Lembah Pantai MP, said he would focus on strengthening the party following the Sheraton Move, which led to the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan government.

“I want PKR to come back stronger than before,” he said at the PKR headquarters after submitting his nomination form.

He expressed hope that his contributions as the party’s communications director would help garner support from the grassroots.

PKR president Anwar Ibrahim has confirmed he will defend his post, with no other member yet coming forward to challenge him.
