Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has called for party unity after defeating Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak in the hotly contested Gombak division chief post.

Amirudin thanked all party members at the division level for voting him and gave his assurance that he would carry out his responsibility to ensure that Gombak will be PKR’s stronghold in the next general election.

“I would like to call all Gombak division members to strengthen cooperation, unite all our strength to defend Gombak as a PKR stronghold in the 15th General Election,” he said in a statement Sunday (May 25).

Meanwhile, it was reported that Farhash has asked for a forensic audit to be carried out on the recent party polls, citing a discrepancy in the number of ballots tallied and the number of voters.

The Gombak division chief post was held by former PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali who, along with former vice-president Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin, were kicked out of the party following the “Sheraton Move” which brought down the Pakatan Harapan government in February 2020.

Amirudin, who was often linked to Azmin’s camp, did not defect but remained as Selangor Mentri Besar.

Amirudin managed to secure 1,858 votes compared to Farhash’s 1,215.

In another hotly contested seat, Daing Md Redzuan Bachok (942 votes) beat both actor Datuk Hans Isaac (609) and rapper Altimet@Syed Ahmad Abdul Rahman (589) to win in Ampang.

Zuraida had won in Ampang in 2008, 2013 and 2018, who also defected from PKR to Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia following the Sheraton Move. – The Star
