PKR Youth has agreed to settle any differences they might have among themselves, after screenshots of a private discussion among its leaders on WhatsApp went viral.
PKR Youth state leaders have called for calm and allow enough room for the party leadership to clear the air about the matter.
“We acknowledge that a private discussion among PKR Youth leaders had been leaked, and we believe that this matter should be handled conscientiously through internal party channels.
“We also believe that this matter can be settled harmoniously at the PKR Youth Leadership Council meeting, which will involve national and state leaders,” the group said in a statement.
The statement was signed by every PKR Youth state leader, including its Selangor head Mohd Najwan Halimi.
The group also pledged its confidence in PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s leadership, adding that there was no strong reason to question their loyalty to the party’s leaders.
“There is no basis to dispute our loyalty to party leaders, especially being continuously committed to defending our principles and idealisms from being betrayed,” the group said as it called for solidarity among members to rise and become the strongest wing within the party.
The group also dismissed any allegations of it purposely starting a fight between party members and also slammed the act of exposing the group’s private discussions which had caused discord among members.
On Saturday (Dec 13), it was reported that several screenshots of a conversation believed to be between PKR Youth chief Akmal Nasir and several other PKR Youth leaders had been leaked.
It is believed that the group had made disparaging remarks about Anwar.
A separate statement on the matter, which slammed the closed conversation as “going overboard” and claimed that those who insulted Anwar “cannot be accepted”, also went viral.
However, the statement, which was supposedly issued by Najwan turned out to be false, as Selangor PKR Youth explained that it did not reflect Najwan’s stance on the matter. – The Star
