Perikatan Nasional (PN) has agreed to back Perak Umno chairman Datuk Saarani Mohamad as the 14th Perak Menteri Besar.
In a joint press statement today, Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has apologised on behalf of Perak BN, following the ouster of Perak Bersatu chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu as menteri besar.
The statement said three presidents from BN, Bersatu and Pas as well as the party’s respective secretary generals have discussed the formation of the state government.
“In the spirit of PN, the three parties have agreed to name Saarani as the new menteri besar and will present it to Sultan Nazrin Shah to get the Sultan’s consent.
“During the discussion, we also agreed on other appointments in the state government.
“The three parties have agreed to strengthen the cooperation within the Perak PN coalition, as well as at the national level, for the sake of economy stability and the people’s welfare,” the statement said.
The statement was issued by Bersatu secretary-general Hamzah Zainuddin, BN secretary-general Annuar Musa and PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan.
