Batu MP P Prabakaran is shocked that his own party men would be driven by their personal agenda to discredit him, PKR and Pakatan Harapan.
He said that Batu PKR vice-chief Rozan Azen Mat Rasip’s action in disrupting a PH ceramah in Batu last night was an act of provocation, and an attempt to tarnish his name.
Prabakaran wants to refer Rozan, a known loyalist of former Batu MP Chua Tian Chang, to the party disciplinary board so that appropriate action can be taken.
“I am surprised by Rozan’s action. Why did he shout at me, and at a PH ceramah as well?
“It was a ceramah to explain the current political crisis and it was jointly held with PKR’s ally Amanah, with former minister Khalid Samad present as well.
“I think he was trying to provoke me and wanted to tarnish my name,” the first-time PKR MP told The Malaysian Insight.
Last night, Rozan caused a stir at the ceramah when he started shouting at Prabakaran, who was on stage delivering his speech.
Former federal territories minister Khalid was also a speaker at the ceramah.
Rozan was later reported as saying that he wanted to correct Prabakaran, who was discrediting the PKR vice-president, better known by his moniker Tian Chua, in his speech.
“He was trying to link Tian Chua to the fall of the PH government, and damaging his credibility,” Rozan was quoted as saying in Sinar Harian today.
Prabakaran, however, denied such claims, saying he was only explaining to his voters on what triggered the collapse of the PH government.
“Rozan was only trying to provoke me and cause trouble at the programme.
“I have nothing personal against Tian Chua, but it is a known fact that he was close to Mohamaed Azmin Ali’s faction.
“They had asked me to join that faction, but I had refused. Maybe that is why Rozan called me a traitor.
“Why am I a traitor? I am still with PKR and PH, and I support PKR president Anwar Ibrahim,” he said, expressing hope such a thing would not recur at his programmes.
The relationship between Chua’s team, which included Rozan, and Prabakaran’s team has never been smooth following the latter’s win in the 14th general election.
Chua was disqualified from contesting to retain his seat following a court conviction and had backed independent Prabakaran to win the seat.
Shortly after winning the seat, Prabakaran joined PKR.
Last week, a group of angry party members accosted Chua at the party headquarters over his links with Azmin, who has been sacked by the party. – TMI
