Salman Khan may be an idol of millions but at the Jodhpur Central Jail he is just Prisoner No. 106 who was served simple ‘dal-roti’ which he did not eat.

Khan, who was yesterday sentenced to five years in prison for killing two endangered blackbucks in 1998, has been kept in ward no. 2, adjacent to the cell of self-styled godman Asaram.

Jail superintendent Vikram Singh, while briefing the media on the celebrity inmate, said Khan would be treated as a normal prisoner and no special treatment would be given to him.
He will have a simple wooden bed, a rug and a cooler in his cell, Singh said.

Khan was given normal jail diet like ‘dal chapatti’, with breakfast including simple ‘khichuri’.
Reportedly, the Bollywood star did not eat the prison fare.
Singh said that the actor had a blood pressure issue when he entered the jail and the doctor of the prison dispensary checked him. His blood pressure was later declared normal.

On the reported threat to Khan by a gangster, Singh said, they are considering keeping him with some other prisoners so that he is not alone.
A local gangster had allegedly said he would kill Khan in Jodhpur.
The Bollywood icon will have to spend at least another night in the jail as a higher court today said the hearing on his plea for suspension of the punishment will continue tomorrow.

Khan’s lawyer filed the bail application in the sessions court immediately after the sentencing yesterday afternoon. He said an appeal against the conviction too will be filed soon after going through the verdict in detail.
The lawyer is confident of securing bail, while apparently, the prosecution is adamant on blocking it
