The police are continuing the investigation into the case of Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Khairuddin Aman Razali who breached his mandatory home quarantine order after returning from Turkey in July.

This came as the Attorney-General Chambers gave more instructions to the police on the case, according to Bukit Aman.

Criminal Investigation Department deputy director Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said this would include calling several more individuals to facilitate the investigation.

“(The investigation paper) has been returned to police with several orders for further action,” he said in a text message today.

Malaysiakini had contacted Mior for an update on the status of Khairuddin’s case after police had submitted their findings to the AGC about two weeks ago.

He also confirmed that among the orders given by the AGC to police was to record statements from several more individuals.

No specifics of the other instructions were revealed.

Mior said the paper was returned to police late last week and they expect to get the instructions completed soon.

Khairuddin landed in the spotlight when it was revealed that he failed to comply with the compulsory 14-day Covid-19 quarantine order following a trip to Turkey in July.

Calls had since been mounted for Khairuddin to resign and for the government to charge the cabinet member.

However, Khairuddin last month had dismissed calls for his resignation, arguing that he had not erred in his duties as a minister. – Malaysiakini
