The police have opened an investigation paper into the allegation that one of Johor regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim’s bodyguards assaulted a disabled man at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur.
Bukit Aman CID chief Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said the alleged victim, an e-hailing driver, lodged a police report yesterday.
“So far, no arrests have been made.

“The police are investigating it under Section 323 of the Penal Code,” he told a press conference.
Shuhaily was asked to comment on a viral social media message alleging that Tunku Ismail’s bodyguard had assaulted the man recently.
Section 323 involves voluntarily causing hurt. Punishment includes imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year, or with a fine which may extend to RM2,000, or both.
While Shuhaily did not reveal the identity of the royalty member, some media reports indicated that the bodyguard works for the Johor regent.
The incident was said to have occurred at a hotel in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur.
It was alleged that the bodyguard had assaulted the 46-year-old man and instructed him to move his vehicle away from the lobby of a five-star hotel located not far from KL Sentral.
The victim sought treatment at Hospital Kuala Lumpur before lodging a police report.
In his report, the 46-year-old, a deaf-mute, claimed he was waiting at the lobby area of the hotel to pick up passengers at about 11.40am yesterday. He claimed that a man started knocking on his car window while he was there and asked him to move as the royalty’s entourage was leaving the hotel lobby.
The victim claimed the man then punched him in the face.
He was given initial treatment at Kuala Lumpur Hospital and was diagnosed with a soft tissue injury by a doctor from the Emergency and Trauma Department, there.
It is learnt police have since seized his mobile phone and vehicle dashboard camera to assist in the investigation.
