Rafizi said anyone in their right mind would know the clip was created using AI.

Former economy minister Rafizi Ramli has denied discussing plans to topple the government with Na’imah Abdul Khalid, saying a viral audio clip allegedly featuring their conversation was fabricated using artificial intelligence.

The Pandan MP claimed on Facebook that one of the voices in the recording could not be his, as he “never answered the phone or spoke on the phone” because he believes the government is monitoring him.

“That is why I do not even have WhatsApp. I have never picked up the phone, what more to have such a conversation with Na’imah.

“(They can) try again. Perhaps after this, they can use AI (artificial intelligence) to make it like I was rapping a bit,” he said.

In his Facebook post, Rafizi said anyone in their right mind would know the clip was created using AI.

The former deputy president of People’s Justice Party (PKR) was responding to a 23-second audio clip that has gone viral on TikTok since yesterday.

The clip featured the voices of two people supposedly discussing a US-based strategic communications firm, with photos of Rafizi and Na’imah displayed in the background.

Na’imah and her children are under investigation for allegedly plotting to topple the government.

Police received a report claiming that a “prominent individual” had held an online meeting in July last year to discuss a purported plan to use international media outlets to pressure Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Azam Baki, chief commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.

Two children of Daim Zainuddin, two lawyers, and several representatives of an international strategic communications firm were also said to have attended the meeting.

Na’imah has denied the allegation, saying the police report was clearly the “conduct of a disgruntled man.”
