Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rina Mohd Harun is confirmed positive with Covid-19.
According to a statement issued by her office today, Rina went to the Putrajaya Health Clinic to do the screening test yesterday morning and the result was conveyed to her last night.
She was admitted to the Sungai Buloh Hospital at 11 am today for further observation.
“She will adhere to all guidelines of Covid-19 infection set by the Health Ministry.
“She has also apologised for any difficulty arising from her diagnosis,” the statement said.
The ministry added that although hospitalised, Rina will ensure that all matters related to welfare works, the protection and empowerment of targetted groups, and ministry operations will run as usual.
Rina is the second member of Cabinet after Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economy) Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed to contract the coronavirus in recent days.
Mustapa tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday night.
The statement did not say whether Rina was a close contact of Mustapa or if she had attended any event or meeting involving Mustapa.
Earlier today, it was reported that ministers in the federal government are being screened for Covid-19 after Mustapa’s positive test results but did not disclose how many ministers were being screened.
It was previously reported that Mustapa had attended a recent Cabinet meeting before testing positive for the infection.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said yesterday that contact tracing for Mustapa is already underway.
