The Kuala Lumpur High Court allowed Rosmah Mansor’s application for judgment in default against a TikTok account owner for alleged defamation.

Judge Ahmad Shahrir Mohd Salleh greenlighted the bid by the wife of incarcerated former premier Najib Abdul Razak, following defendant Ku Muhammad Hilmie Ku Din not entering an appearance against the defamation suit.

The civil court directed for damages to be assessed at a later date.

Under the law, a defendant is required to enter an appearance in the civil court within 14 days of being served copies of a lawsuit.

On Sept 19 last year, Rosmah filed a writ of summons against the online social media user over multiple allegations, among them that she committed a sin and that she was linked to “bomoh” activities.

According to a copy of the statement of claim, the plaintiff claimed that the defendant uploaded the video to his TikTok account on March 22.

Rosmah claimed that before the content was taken down, she alleged that the online posting had been shared by various netizens and received multiple “likes”.

She rubbished the allegation in the video as false, contending that the upload was done maliciously.
