Royal Professor Ungku Abdul Aziz Ungku Abdul Hamid passed away of old age at 4.30 pm today.
According to his wife, Rohayah Ahmad Bahiran, his body will be taken to At-Taqwa Mosque and be buried tonight.
The former academician and economist was born in London, UK on January 28, 1922 and had been respected in many fields.
Among his accolades are the National Cooperative Figure in conjunction with National Cooperative Day awarded in 2002 and the title of “Royal Professor of Economics” in 1978.
He was the father of the former Governor of Bank Negara, Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar. – TMR
