A rumour that has been spreading on social media warns of cameras at toll booths to nab those using mobile phones and not wearing seat belts.
A spokesman for the Transport Ministry says it was not true that closed circuit cameras or AES cameras are installed at toll booths to nab errant motorists.
A voice recording accompanied by a picture at a toll booth has been circulating, warning motorists that cameras were installed at toll booths to catch those using mobile phones behind the wheel and occupants of vehicles who did not wear seat belts.
“The cameras will catch you and you will be issued summons,” the message said.
“So far, AES cameras are installed to nab speeding motorists and those beating the traffic lights,” the spokesman said today, The Star Online reported.
