Former Bagan Dalam assemblyman Satees Muniandy will be contesting as an Independent in his previous seat in the Aug 12 state election.

“I have sent in my resignation letter from DAP to secretary-general Anthony Loke and after much consideration, will go it as an independent to save the party from a ‘tyrant’.

“After being in the party for 15 years I have resigned today with a heavy heart although there are ‘friends’ in the party who chose to remain silent,” said Satees at a press conference in Butterworth on Friday (July 28).

Satees’ move to contest as an independent comes a day after Seberang Prai City (MBSP) councillor David Marshel announced his bid to contest as an independent in Perai after resigning from the party.

Satees said his tagline in the election will be “Penang is ours” to send a strong message that the people would not be cowed by the antics of a single person who has caused much discontent in the party. – The Star
