Amirudin Shari said the former Selangor PKR chief had betrayed the people’s mandate given to her as a PH representative and should do the honourable thing and quit as the assemblyman also.

“This act is clearly a form of betrayal to the people who have given Pakatan Harapan a clear mandate to govern Selangor through the general election.

“I urge YB Dr Daroyah to immediately resign as assemblyman if she has any dignity,” he said in a strongly worded statement.

Amirudin said while the state PKR aspired to do their best for the people, Dr Daroyah Alwi had instead betrayed their trust.

Last Saturday, Daroyah, who was the PKR women’s wing deputy chief, Selangor PKR women’s chief, Kapar division chief and state legislative assembly deputy Speaker left the party along with 48 others, comprising mainly leaders from her Kapar division.

She had claimed they had lost faith in the party and the leadership.

She said she will be an independent rep friendly to the Perikatan Nasional (PN) federal government.

Kuala Selangor division chief Juwariya Zulkifli who also hit out at Dr Daroyah said she had been flitting between camps and unsure where her loyalty should lie for quite a while.

Juwariya said many had tried talking to her and convince her to remain loyal to the party.

Daroyah had also disclosed at the press conference that the PKR disciplinary committee had issued her a show cause letter dated May 15.

Selayang division chief William Leong said Daroyah’s departure from PKR was foreseeable. However, he deemed it necessary for detractors within the party to exit PKR.

“Dr Daroyah’s exit was inevitable but it is good for the party as everyone knows there’s a split within PKR,” he said.

He stressed that those no longer in line with the party ideals and its leadership should leave PKR for the party to heal and move on.

Sungai Besar division chief Azhar Achil alleged that Daroyah had moved in tandem with party members who had turned detractors.

He also claimed most of those who quit, including Daroyah, were on the verge of being booted from the party.

Sentosa division chief Gunaraj George meanwhile, called on others from PKR who can no longer be loyal to the party leadership and respect the people’s mandate like Daroyah to leave the party immediately.

He said Daroyah had disrespected the people who had voted for her to serve them in her capacity as a PKR member.

Amirudin said following her resignation, the post of the state’s deputy speaker will be managed by the Selangor assembly office.

Daroyah’s decision to quit PKR has reduced the number of PKR assemblymen in the state to 17.

Pakatan Harapan (PH) counts 41 in its ranks in the 53-member assembly. The DAP has 16 while Amanah has eight seats.

On the opposition side, Umno has five representatives, Bersatu with four and one from PAS.

Amirudin said the Selangor PKR members are fed up with this immature politics.

“Now the current priority of Selangor is to assist the people who are affected by the Covid-19 outbreak.

“We will do our best to honour the mandate of the people.”
