Selangor Pakatan Harapan expressed its confidence in Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari’s leadership and denied claims that there is a move to push him out.
In a joint statement issued by Selangor PH, state leaders of all four component parties also dismissed talks of a plot to remove state speaker Ng Suee Lim.
“Selangor PH rejects all speculations that there is an attempt to replace the state assembly speaker, that there is a breakdown in ties between the four parties and also attempts to unseat Amirudin.
“These are all due to our political enemies’ agenda to break up the unity and harmony in Selangor PH.
“We are united to continue our work in fulfilling our agenda for the people of Selangor and the state,” they said.
The statement was issued after a meeting involving state PH leaders in the menteri besar’s official residence in Shah Alam.
The Malaysian Insight earlier reported that Amirudin’s position as MB is under threat as a result of him backing Azmin Ali in the sex tape scandal.
A faction in PKR is reported to be planning to engineer the ouster of Amirudin. They claimed they have enough support to make Ijok assemblyman Idris Ahmad as the new MB.
At the same time, talk has been rife that plans are afoot to remove state speaker Ng for adjourning the House before the state can table a unilateral conversion bill in the state assembly.
Following that, DAP had said it stood by Ng and would reject such an amendment.
At present, the Selangor enactment states that those below 18 must obtain the consent of their “mother and father” before embracing Islam. The amendment seeks to change this to “mother or father”. – TMI
