PKR has sacked its Selangor Youth chief, Najwan Halimi.
Najwan confirmed the matter with Harian Metro, saying he had received a letter informing him about his sacking – effective immediately – at 11am today.
However, the Kota Anggerik assemblyman said he was only removed from his post and was not booted from the party.
Najwan said he was in the dark over the reason for his removal as the state youth chief, adding that such sackings were rare.
“The letter did not specify the reason. I was merely informed that there was a reshuffle,” the Malay daily quoted him as saying.
But Najwan said his sacking meant the wing’s entire line-up would also be given the boot.
There was now a need to hold an election to select a new line-up.
He added that he accepted the decision and would now focus on serving his constituency and at the same time work to strengthen the party.
Najwan also said he was made to understand that his counterpart in Perlis, Nor Azam Karap, had received similar walking papers.
Meanwhile, in a statement, PKR Youth said the wing was reorganising the line-up in Perlis and Selangor in preparation for the next general election. – FMT
