Umno veteran Shahrir Abdul Samad took a swipe at Perikatan Nasional chief minister candidate Mas Ermieyati Samsudin today, following her loss in the Malacca elections yesterday.

The former federal minister in a Facebook post said: “She lost with a slim margin of not more than 1,000 votes.”

“The point is, Barisan Nasional (BN) won all state seats in all its parliamentary constituencies. Looks like (she is) not that great.”

Shahrir was referring to Mas Ermieyati’s defeat in the Tg Bidara seat yesterday, which is under her Masjid Tanah parliamentary constituency.

Instead, Malacca BN chief Ab Rauf Yusof clinched the seat in a three-cornered fight against Mas Ermieyati and Pakatan Harapan’s Zainal Hassan.

Shahrir said Mas Ermieyati was lucky to be able to continue her service as deputy minister.

“Mas Ermieyati is a real pity. After GE14, she was one of the first to jump out of Umno and join Bersatu,” he added.
