Close to a thousand people joined the funeral procession of Puan Sri Lee Kim Hua this morning.
People arrived in cars and buses to gather at the family’s bungalow in Jalan Tengku Ampuan near Taman Duta to escort the cortege. Members of the public could only follow the funeral procession for a few hundred metres from the residence as the family had requested for her funeral ceremony to be a private affair.
Over the weekend and yesterday, dignitaries and the public paid their last respects to the woman behind the founder of Genting Group Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong at the family home.
An equally elaborate affair as that of her late husband’s, the wake saw floral wreaths lining the walkway from the residence’s front gate to the front door. The coffin was placed in a brightly-lit living room and soothing music played in the hall.
Lee passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on Friday. Her remains will be interred at the Gohtong Memorial park, which is a memorial dedicated to the Genting founder.
