A 67-year-old man who was seriously hurt after allegedly being attacked by his son with a saw and spirit level died at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar.

Kubang Pasu OCPD Supt Mohd Ismail Ibrahim said Mohd Tarmizi Abdul Hamid, from Kampung Baru Sri Muda near Sungai Korok, died at 1.30am yesterday.
He said Mohd Tarmizi and his wife Tom Wahid, 64, were allegedly attacked by their 28-year-old son, identified as Mohd Ridzuan, in the kitchen of their house.
The 28-year-old suspect is believed to have been high on drugs.
“The post-mortem result shows that Mohd Tarmizi died of a heart attack,” Kubang Pasu district police chief Superintendent Mohd Ismail Ibrahim said in a statement yesterday.
It was reported that the case is being classified under Section 302 for murder.
Mohd Tarmizi’s other children claimed his body at the hospital at 4.50pm. One of them revealed that heir mother was in stable condition.
Reportedly, just before the attack, Tom was cooking in the kitchen when the suspect scolded her for reporting him to the National Anti-Drug Agency.
Tarmizi was found lying on the floor in the kitchen following the attack.
Tom, who was bleeding from the face, managed to seek help at a neighbour’s house.
Police said the suspect was found squatting in front of the house and was arrested. They also seized a saw and a spirit level at the scene.
The suspect tested positive for cannabis.
The magistrate court granted a remand order for seven days, until Nov 8, against the suspect to allow police to carry out further investigations.
