A man who allegedly murdered a couple and their son and injured the couple’s daughter at a house-cum-hardware store at Taman Bahagia in Wakaf Mek Zainab in Kota Bharu on Nov 15 was “close” to the family.

Kha Xing Rhuu, 15, who was injured in the attack, said the suspect had worked with her father for four years. The Form Three student of SM Chung Cheng was allowed to leave Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II yesterday to attend the funerals of her parents and younger brother, which will be held today.

In the incident which took place between 1.30pm and 2pm, Kha Eng Ni, 42, and his wife, Chua Joo Seok, 43, were repeatedly stabbed while their son, Kha Zee Hanz, 13, was bludgeoned to death with a hammer. All three died on the spot.

Meeting with reporters, Xing Rhuu said, “At the time of the incident, I had returned from school with Zee Hanz in a van when the suspect stopped my brother from entering the house and ordered him to fetch a file from the van.

“At that moment, I stepped into the house and was shocked to see my father lying in the living room in a pool of blood.

“As I immediately telephoned my friend, I saw my brother being dragged into the house by the suspect. I shouted at the man and pleaded with him not to harm my brother but he proceeded to hit him on the head with a hammer. I could not do anything because things were happening very fast.

“Then, he rushed towards me and also hit me with the hammer but I was lucky because he was not precise.”

“A neighbour came to my rescue and sent me to the hospital where I received two stitches on my head,” she said, adding that she was also bruised all over her body.

The second of four siblings, Xing Rhuu said her eight-year-old sister Xing Shyen was also at the scene but she managed to hide under a chair.

Her older sister Xing Fei is 19.

“My parents and my brother will be cremated at our hometown in Kampung Balai, Bachok,” Xing Rhuu added.

She is still deeply traumatised by the assault on her younger brother that she witnessed.

Meanwhile, police are looking for Sharat Eh Wang alias Pot, 31, to facilitate investigations into the triple murders.

Kelantan police deputy chief Din Ahmad said the man’s last known address was at Kampung Jubakat Darat here.

He said the police would also work closely with their Thai counterpart on the case.
