Parti Warisan has pulled out of the race for the Dec 7 Padang Serai Parliamentary election which is seeing a six-cornered fight when nominations closed on Thursday (Nov 24).
Warisan secretary general Datuk Loretto Padua said the Election Commission (EC) was informed about the party’s decision on Thursday.
However, he said the Warisan candidate Bakri Hisham’s name would appear in the ballot paper.
“The party has decided not to contest Padang Serai,” he said in a statement.
“The Warisan logo will still be listed in the ballot paper as the party is registered as one of the parties contesting the Padang Serai parliamentary seat,” he said.
Pakatan Harapan’s Sofee Razak was fielded for the election which was deferred following the death of Pakatan candidate M Karupaiya a few days before Nov 19 general election.

Apart from Sofee, the five other candidates remained the same – Asman Nasrudin (Perikatan Nasional), C Sivarraajh (Barisan Nasional), Hamzah Abdul Rahman (Pejuang), and independent K Sreanandha Rao. Warisan’s Bakri was not present as it was not required. – The Star
