Large parts of the Klang Valley will face water cuts from Oct 13-16 to facilitate planned upgrades and maintenance.

There will be a scheduled water disruption affecting 998 areas in seven districts in Selangor starting at 9am on Wednesday (Oct 13).

The disruption is due to upgrades and maintenance of critical assets which would temporarily cease the operation of the Sungai Selangor Water Treatment Plant Phase 1 (LRA SSP1).

Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) said that works are expected to be completed at 9pm on Oct 16.

“The works had been delayed from the original schedule in 2019 and 2020 due to the raw water source pollution incident that caused large-scale water disruption in Klang Valley,” Air Selangor said in a statement on Friday (Oct 1).

Water supply will be channelled to users in stages from 5pm on Oct 14 after maintenance and upgrading works are done and water supply distribution system have been stabilised.

A total of 105 water tankers will be mobilised to the affected locations.

Priority will be given to critical premises such as hospitals and dialysis centres.

Air Selangor will also prepare 18 public water taps for affected residents.
