A Honda dealer today suspended one of its employees who posted an insensitive comment online over the death of fireman Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim.
Honda Sri Utama Auto Malaysia, which operates in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur, apologised on behalf of the female employee.
“We do not condone nor will tolerate such behaviour online or offline. At this moment, we have suspended the said staff and started an internal investigation, and we will take the sternest action possible,” said the company’s director Wong Chee Keong, who also offered his condolences to Adib’s family.
Wong is believed to be referring to online remarks posted in response to a video clip of Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad and Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin speaking to the media following Adib’s death.
As the nation mourns the passing of the fallen firefighter, a video of him celebrating his last birthday inside a fire station has gone viral.
The 19-second clip posted on Facebook by Friends of Bomba Malaysia is believed to be the final video that captured Adib before his fatal assault.
It shows the 24-year-old in his Bomba uniform shyly cutting his birthday cake as his colleagues cheer him on.
Adib was laid to rest in his hometown in Kampung Tebengau, Kedah, today.
