The husband of YouTube star S Pavithra was charged again at the Ipoh Sessions Court this afternoon with causing injury to his wife on Tuesday.
M Sugu, 29, pleaded not guilty when the charge was read out to him by an interpreter before judge Mohd Fauzi Mohd Nasir.
According to the charge sheet, Sugu, a former estate worker in Sungai Siput, was alleged to have assaulted his wife, Pavithra, 28, using a mobile phone and a sickle which caused injuries to her lips, left cheek and right arm.
The accused was charged with committing the offence at the parking lot of Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) between 4pm and 5pm, on July 21.

The charge, under Section 324 of the Penal Code and read together with Section 326A of the Penal Code, carries a jail term of up to 10 years or a fine or whipping or with any two of such punishments upon conviction.
Deputy public prosecutor Mohd Waffy Ismail prosecuted while Sugu was represented by counsel Mahinderjit Singh.
The court allowed the accused RM5,000 bail in one surety and set August 17 for mention.
This morning, Sugu was charged with carrying a sickle at a parking area at HRPB about 6pm on July 21.
Pavithra, who was recently named Ipoh City Icon 2020 by the Ipoh City Council, was also present in a yellow shirt and was seen talking to her husband.
After keeping mum about her husband’s arrest for assaulting her, Pavithra finally broke her silence today.
She said that she has “forgiven” her husband and that they will continue to focus on creating content for their YouTube channel, “Sugu Pavithra”.
She added that she and her husband are also declining any form of recognition or honour from any party, as they are simply “ordinary people.”
“We do not want to accept the ‘Ipoh City Icon’ award…we do not want that (or any other award). We are only ordinary people, and we want to focus on our YouTube channel.

“We are not deserving (of the) ‘Ipoh City Icon’ award as there are so many other talented people out there (who are more deserving than) us,” she said.
Pavithra said this when met at the Ipoh Sessions Court after posting bail for her husband today.
“We want to live a normal life like others. We want to focus on our family, that’s all.
“We don’t want to be recognised by others. Let us enjoy life like we used to before,” she added.
Pavithra was seen smiling and holding Sugu’s hand after the latter was released from police custody.
