Clad in a reddish-orange long-sleeved batik shirt and black pants, Zahid arrived at the MACC headquarters at 9.52am, ahead of his 10am appointment, in a black Toyota Vellfire without police escorts.

Beaming his customary grin, he waved at journalists as he made his way inside the building.

He was seen signing the guest book before being brought into the interview rooms.

It was reported that Zahid would be asked to explain claims that RM800,000 in foundation funds were used to pay off credit card bills belonging to him and his wife.

He is the chairman of the family-owned foundation and records showed the foundation, which is to receive and administer funds to eradicate poverty, was registered in 1997.

MACC is also expected to take his statement about a purported meeting between him and a member of Saudi Arabia’s royal family, who is said to have donated money to Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

On Aug 22, 2015, Dr Ahmad Zahid, who was speaking at the opening of the Sri Gading Umno division, said he had met the wealthy Arab family who donated US$700 million that was channelled into the former prime minister’s personal account.
