Police have identified two child witnesses during the mass screening of residents at Idaman Apartment, Damansara Damai, says Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan.

He said that it was learned that the children had seen murder victim Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin, six, at Block R — where Zayn Rayyan’s family lives.

“From the mass screening, the police successfully identified two children who had seen the victim at levels two and three of Block R in the evening last Tuesday (Dec 5),” he said in a statement on Thursday (Dec 14).

Comm Hussein also said that the police have recorded a total of 86 statements in relation to the investigation.

He also added that a total of 238 DNA samples have also been collected so far.

Zayn Rayyan was reported missing last Tuesday and his body was found the following day in a stream about 200 metres from the block he lived in at Apartment Idaman.

On Wednesday (Dec 13), the investigating team found a sock in a stream near where the body of autistic child Zayn Rayyan was discovered.

Comm Hussein said the sock needed to be sent to a laboratory for analysis to ascertain whether it belonged to Zayn Rayyan.

This morning, a forensic police team was seen arriving and entering Block R of the apartment. – The Star
