Together with the unwavering resolve of the people, 2025 can be a transformative year for us.
As we usher in 2025, G25 Malaysia extends our heartfelt wishes to everyone in Malaysia for a year filled with peace, unity and prosperity.
We look forward to seeing Malaysia continue its journey toward becoming a stronger democracy – one that upholds human rights and fosters both domestic and global stability.
As Malaysia progresses into an upper-middle-income nation, it is crucial that the benefits of this economic growth reach everyone, especially those from lower-income groups.
In 2025, G25 expects to see policies that address the economic disparities that persist in our society. With these policies, we hope to see a more equitable distribution of wealth, where the marginalised and economically disadvantaged have a fairer share of the nation’s wealth.
G25 also firmly believes that economic progress must go hand in hand with a commitment to advancing human rights. With an increasingly well-educated population, particularly among the youth, the demand for higher standards of human rights will only grow.
People are more aware of their rights than ever before. And the government must meet these rising expectations by improving transparency and accountability.
We believe that bridging the gap between different communities and regions in economy and education is essential for long-term success and stability.
We therefore call for a renewed focus on improving the quality of education in our schools in both urban and rural areas to foster critical thinking and enhance English language proficiency to meet the expectations of a globalised world.
We urge the government to engage with educators, parents and students to ensure that the reforms made in education serve the best interests of all.
Looking ahead, G25 will continue to champion higher standards of governance in our country.
We urge the government to ensure that public institutions, particularly the judiciary, the Electoral Commission and the civil service, operate with greater transparency, free from political interference, and are held accountable to the people they serve. Strengthening these institutions must be a priority for building a government that is fair, just and independent.
Urgency must also be given to the passing of the political financing bill. Political integrity is fundamental to the health of any democracy. And Malaysia must take this vital step to ensure that elections are fair, clean and free from the undue influence of money.
G25 firmly believes that a commitment to good governance and anti-corruption is the foundation upon which a prosperous and harmonious nation can be built.
The prime minister’s leadership will be essential in translating the government’s promises into real, measurable change. We expect a year of urgent action and reform – one in which Malaysia can begin to truly fulfil its potential as a developed and equitable nation.
G25 is confident that together with the unwavering resolve of the people, 2025 can be a transformative year for us.
Let us embrace the opportunities ahead and work towards building a Malaysia that is not only prosperous but also just, inclusive and united.
We wish you all a happy New Year 2025. – G25
