The first step for Umno and BN to become a good opposition is to admit to the 1MDB and other corruption scandals.

Former Opposition leader Lim Kit Siang offered advice to Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi who may soon fill the role, telling the acting Umno president that he will need to be honest and constructive to thrive in the unfamiliar post.

Criticising Zahid for claiming the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government was built on hate, Lim told Zahid that honest introspection would show that this was likely more true for Umno and possibly why it and the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition lost the general election.

Lim also noted that Umno still rejects wrongdoing in the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) scandal despite emerging details.

“Do not deny that 1MDB and Malaysia’s infamy and ignominy of a ‘global kleptocracy’, the GST and rampant abuses of power, and the Umno/BN leadership degenerating into a kakistocracy as the main causes of Umno/BN worst defeat in their history,” said Lim

Lim commented that the first step for Umno and BN to become a good opposition is to admit the enormity of the criminality and moral turpitude in the 1MDB scandal as well as other corruption scandals in the country.

He said both PH and BN must learn their new roles, the former as the government of Malaysia and the latter as a good and constructive Opposition. – Malay Mail
