Abdul Rahman Osman says Malaysia should prevent and curb LGBTs from becoming an epidemic in society as they violate Islamic law.

No compromise should be granted to the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) community because they clearly opposed the law of God and human nature, said Pahang mufti Abdul Rahman Osman.

He said as an Islamic nation, Malaysia should curb the LGBT and stop them from spreading like an epidemic.

“This group is cursed by God and those who support the wrongdoings are equally sinful…why do we want to accept and be with them? There is no question of compromise to allow LGBT behaviours and actions which are clearly destructive to themselves, religion and society.

“We have to oppose them…but wisely, if we have the power to prevent (LGBT activities) it is easier to do it through law enforcement… (We should) not endeavour to understand them instead,” he said when contacted by Bernama.

He was asked to comment on Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa’s recent meeting with transgender activists.

In Seremban, Negri Sembilan Wanita Umno today called on the government to reject all claims of the LGBT as they contradicted Islam.

The chief Lattefah Aliyaru Kunju said the baseless demands of the group should be denied as they were also opposed to “normal human values”.

“The right they claim is just the beginning for the group to gain space in society, and perhaps in the future, they will ask for more and may also request that a law be drafted specifically for them.

“This should be contained from now so that this problem will not affect the lives of future generations,” she told a media conference here today.
